The JUNO-nominated duo transfixes listeners through impassioned expressivity, contagious joy, and the ability to connect instantly with global audiences
Since officially forming at their Carnegie Hall debut, the artistry of the Canadian Cheng² Duo has left lasting impressions across the globe, with extensive tours to concert halls and festivals throughout North America, Europe and Asia.
Cellist Bryan Cheng, prizewinner of the Canada Council Virginia Parker Prize and the Verbier Festival’s Prix Yves Paternot (Switzerland), and pianist Silvie Cheng, National Arts Club Artist Fellow and Cecilia Concerts’ Artist-in-Residence, have been making music together since they were children.
Cheng² Duo are equally committed to presenting traditional masterworks and championing the music of their time, having curated cross-disciplinary concert experiences that meld classical and contemporary music with jazz, poetry, and visual/media arts.
Critics have hailed their performances as “brilliant” (The Sunday Times, UK), “truly exhilarating” (The WholeNote, Canada), and “absolutely captivating” (Pizzicato Magazine, Luxembourg).
